3:08 pm - Game music/chip tunes
|
I kinda forgot to post this after debating on releasing it online. I've been kinda beating myself up about it since I just did it real fast in one take with not really much planning. But I guess it's a good sampler for the variety of chiptune music out there now. So feel free to listen, download and share this. I may work on a longer more thought out one since this is only 32 minutes. My friend only wanted a 20-30 minute mix.

|
Finished a short lil DJ mix which I'll post later today. So for now check these neat videos I've stumbled across this week.
I don't know bout you, but this makes me want to rock....and thats pretty hard to do sometimes
Guess that answers the question what life would be like if things were all iphone.
Speaking of the iphone, check this app I just found that lets you do granular synthesis on it. I may have to get this and give it a whirl!
Curtis vs radio demo from strange agency on Vimeo.
Yes yes I know, information overload. But one last link! This calandar ..yes calandar for Japan I could watch and relax to for hours. It uses some tilt shift/stop motion cameras to show high quality and surreal videos of spots all over Japan. Give it a looksie and see if you're not bright eye'd as a kitten watching it.

5:41 pm - This thing inside of me, it screams the loudest sound.
|
Well I haven't really updated or posted anything in awhile. But right before I had some MAJOR music software issues I was able to peel off two tracks.
Well music is now on a hault until I figure out something. It's really frustrating to keep pushing and building up your own sound and style just to have the ladder kicked right out from under you. I've spent the last week locked away with work and music, just to find out how many ableton glitches/problems I can possible find till I get fed up and walk away. So for now I'm just working on DJing stuff, playing fallout, reading and searching my head for a new sound/style of music I would like to pursue. You better believe I'm going to raise some hell at the next ableton meeting about this shit.
Music wise, the only thing I can think of as maybe experimenting around with at the moment is maybe a breakcore for girls project. Anyone up for exploring this theme to see what all can come about?

3:10 pm - Finally its happen to meeeee!
|
Today I upgraded my lil gear/studio setup!

I have some new studio/DJ headphones coming in hopefully Monday. But as you can see I'm running my laptop with ableton live 8, trigger finger on the right, oxygen 49 in the middle, my new APC 40 on the left and a 500 gig external hard drive.

I'm super excited about my new APC 40, and it fires up and is fun to play with right out the box. I was jamming on one of my already made DJ setups for a good while. So i'm expecting to just lay low for awhile and dive into learning this piece of gear and setting it up for a new and improved live DJ/performance setup and doing future gigs. I think I may set this up in the den tonight and just jam out in the dark with the pretty light show.

6:04 pm - Hi darwin!
|
So the other day I was using google and noticed they had a fossil theme for the page. As many of you know already, google like to change their theme for special events and holidays. But this time I was like "WTF is this one for?". Ah but to my surprise I've found out why. Say hello to the missing link.
I wonder what the religous sect is going to say about this.
On a similar and un-related note
God I miss that show...bless!

6:04 pm - DJ quick update
|
Well I remembered shortly after I posted! I shall be DJing on the 23rd here!

I also believe I'll be catching Iacchus the night before as he'll be on tour here at the same time. I'll have to see if I can get some people to go with me. I'm also rounding up people to go see him while up in the Carolina's. So I'm expecting a fun and busy weekend. I don't know whats with the lunatic lounge comment on the flyer. I'm not sure if its an in joke or more beef. Seems like a lot of beefing is going on lately and I don't get involved in that stuff.

5:49 pm - Spring cleaning
|
So I've spent the past couple days cleaning my house. Just when I think I'm close to done with this place, I always find something else to do. I've even started myself an herb garden so I can have fresh herbs on hand always. Never in my life would I dream of me taking care of plants.
Most of my house is hardwood floor or linoleum. So I think I've found something I need for my bachelor pad. A floor wiping robot!
On another note, I've rented Resident Evil 5. I can't say that it has me totally absorbed and hooked yet. There are several things that has prevented this and I don't feel like getting into some long drawn out game review of it. But I'll just say that it seems to have lost the RE feel of old and I'm hoping things will change farther in the game.
I think I had some other stuff to talk about, but I guess I forgot. Maybe I'll post something later.

10:25 pm - Time for a new mixer!
|
OK I'm retiring my olllllllllld gemini mixer and now I've got it narrowed down to two new ones I like. So heres where you come in. Help me decide!
What I'm looking for is a sturdy(cause I'm going to work the hell out of it) mixer with 3 channels and a nice fader(I have a replacement fader I plan on using anyway).
So first up on the chopping block.
The numark m4 more info!
Highlights: 3 channels, lots of inputs/outputs, fader reverse and curve controls.
now for our next contestant.
The Stanton m.304 More info!
Highlights: 3 channels, lots of inputs, kill switches, nice fader, low noise technology, effect loops.
So discuss!

5:41 pm - Buffalo
|
Oh I almost forgot this nice variation of the pizzadilla! Here is a nice variation of it for those of you wanting something a lil spicey and hot! Sorry no pic, forgot to take one of these tasty guys.
Spicey Buffalo Chicken Quesodilla
Ingredients and prep
Chicken Tenderloins ( 1 1/2 chicken tenderloins will do fine for a medium tortilla) Tortillas (2 per quesodilla) A thick buffalo wing sauce of your choice/making Spicey seasoning or make your own. (red pepper flacks, pepper, salt, cajun seasoning) Olive oil Pepper Jack cheese shredded(mozarella works fine too or whatever you like) (optional) blue cheese dressing or ranch dressing
Same equipment as the pizzadilla
Instructions
1. Pour maybe a tablespoon of Olive oil on the chicken tenderloins. 2. Sprinkle the spicey seasoning over the chicken tenderloins and then toss to coat well. 3. Grill or bake the chicken untill done. 4. Let the chicken cool enough to touch, then dice it up in small chunks.
Pretty much follow instructions for the pizzadilla. Toast one side of your tortilla, flip, the spread the buffalo wing sauce on then sprinkle the cheese, then diced chicken on top.
Put second tortilla on top and flip. Cook till chese is nice and melted and tortilla is toasty.
Remove for surface, cut into quarters or triangles of choice.
If you like your wings with ranch or blue cheese dressing. Then pour you some in a small dipping bowl for you to dip em in. Personally I like it without.
Enjoy!

12:31 am - Pizzadilla!
|

I've been meaning to post this for awhile, so here ya go. Try it out and let me know how it goes. They used to have these on the menu at TGI Fridays back in the 90's and then took em off for some Jack Daniels bullshit. I never eat there anymore cause of that. So I went about recreating my favorite dish from there and came out 200% better than I thought!
Pizzadillas
Things needed and prep work
Tortillas (2 tortillas for one pizzadilla) Spaghetti sauce or marinara sauce of you choice Pepperonis (or any other meat topping you like already cooked) Shreaded mozzarella cheese (or any shredded cheese you like) (optional) shreaded Parmesan cheese
Equipment
Spoon Flat cooking surface (flat top grill, or nonstick pan big enough for a tortilla) Chef Knife Spatula
Instructions
1. Heat your flat cooking surface to medium heat 2. Place one tortilla on the hot surface and let it sit till a bit toasty 3. Flip tortilla over 4. Spoon about 3 spoonfuls of sauce in the middle of tortilla and then spread around with spoon leaving a half inch gap around the edges. Put enough to cover that area 5. Sprinkle cheese on top of sauce like you would a pizza. (optional: sprinkle parmesan cheese too) 6. Add pepperonis or whatever meat you choose on top of cheese and sauce. 7 Let cook till cheese is halfway melted 8. Place second tortilla on top and flip over with spatula 9. Let cook till bottom tortilla is nice and toasty crisp also. 10. Remove from cooking surface and cut into triangle/quarters (optional) sprinkle with more parmesian cheese) 11. If you like pour some of the sauce in a small dipping bowl for you to dip your pizzadillas into.
Enjoy!

6:39 pm - HALLA LEEW JAH

I think I've fixed my stereo! So far all my tests have come up good and its not shut down again.
At the moment I'm listening to my Iacchus 303factory cd on the 3 speakers I have hooked up.... and ..and life is good! (wipes tears)
I was going to go out tonight and see Richard Devine, but man I'm tired from work. I may just stay home run wire to the rear speakers and spend time with my baby (huggles stereo). Then maybe do some zombie smashing till I fall asleep.
Busy weekend with home projects and FINALLY get to start getting some tracks done and see about putting them out.

8:18 pm - Fuck Sony
|
I've been meaning to post pics and a recipe, but been to busy. I COULD do that now, but FUCK THAT!
As some of you might know, I've been without my stereo unit since like late July or August. I won't even go into the loooooooooong fucked up story that is me trying to get it repaired. Well today i've finally be reunited with my long lost stereo unit straight from the Sony repair center in Laredo Texas (waves to them).
So I think my day is going to end on a pretty nice note. I cook me quite the delicious steak on the grill, while I read a magazine outside in the nice weather. Then after dinner I hook up my stereo unit to the tv, dvd player, left, right and center speakers. Then decide to give it a whirl to see if I got it setup right.
So I get my tv and xbox 360 running. Hot deal! Then I boot up a game to see how it sounds, in this case Lost Odyssey. Sounds maaaaaaaaaarvelous. Then I get the idea "HEY I bet Mass effect sounds FUCKING AWESOME". So I boot it up and listen to the soothing start screen melodies and wait for the game trailer to start. Everything start well, then right before things kick off... . . . . BAM! and I mean BAAAAMM!!!!! The fucking piece of shit Sony reciever crashes and shuts down.
So to wrap up since my drinks are creeping up on me. I've figured out that my reciver will crash when it gets even the slightest bass signal and will PROMPTLY shut the FUCK down! I've had this mother fucker back for 30 mins and its already crashing....but not as bad as before! So moral of this story, FUCK Sony, Fuck the Ps3(my friends has crapped out on him already) fuck Sony recievers and I'm going to chew someone up on the phone tomorrow. Thank the lord they gave me a handy number in their appology letter with the sent back reciever. Too bad they close at ?!?!? 4:30pm monday-friday? wtf?
So I'm so digusted that I took a shot and a stiff drink and ready to just pass out in bed. Goodnight and angry music making tomorrow!
p.s pardon my french but I'm angry and tipsy.

Is it me or is LJ running like fucking dog shit lately. I've had it crap out on me like 3 times this week, usually when commenting. I'd be really pissed if it did while I wrote some long post. It almost makes me want to quit posting and quit seeing their stupid ads all together.
Maybe if things would start running better I'd commment and post more.

12:08 am - Visualization
|
Well after having no internet for a few days I'm back. I think I came back just in time too since Ableton Live 8 went public beta today. I'm steady diving into it now...just another productivity killer for me! I'll have to post some impressions on it soon. Also pretty much got a new track laid out, just time to record, edit and then see about getting it sounding clean.
UPS has lost my god damn stereo reciever I sent back to sony to be fixed. I swear I'm cursed with this thing. First it glitches and shutdowns and can't be fixed, less than a year from purchase. Then I get busy with work/moving/bills so I can't send it off. Then I get time and find out I can't send it off without a reciept. Best Buy give me all sorts of trouble about a reciept and take their sweet time sending me one. Now UPS lose the damn thing.
Well now I leave you with some of the wildest projection visuals I've seen.

1:49 am - Compression
|
KANYE WEST "Welcome To Heartbreak" Directed by Nabil from nabil elderkin on Vimeo.
Seems like this maybe the new thing to do in videos. I'm starting to see videos with people flirting with various compression techniques to do weird lofi effects. It's kind of neat and also funny how in the crystal clear digital age, something like this will come about.
Music artists even do this and I've read about experimental music projects where the artist will play around with bit rates of samples to give sounds new textures. Also add to this people who use old gear or even gameboys for the "crunchy" sound it gives off.
Well guess I shall go back to playing street fighter 4 and giving myself a thumb blister. Oh and dan dan, I rented dead rising for you!
